Two Vande Bharat Express services operating from Bengaluru may soon undergo notable changes in timings and operations. The proposal also includes a long-pending demand to shift the terminal of the Bengaluru-Kalaburagi
service.
According to a report in The Times Of India, the Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat could see its terminal moved from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT Bengaluru) to Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru Station (KSR Bengaluru) as part of the plan put forward by South Western Railway (SWR). The change aims to improve passenger accessibility and streamline operations.
The revised timetable and terminal changes have already been proposed by SWR earlier this month. However, these modifications will come into effect only after receiving final clearance from the Railway Board.
No Timing Change For Belagavi Service
The Belagavi Vande Bharat is set to retain its existing schedule. It will continue to depart Belagavi at 5:35 am and arrive in Bengaluru at 1:50 pm.
The return journey will also remain unchanged, leaving Bengaluru at 2:20 pm and reaching Belagavi by 10:30 pm.
While the timetable stays the same, the weekly maintenance day for the Belagavi service is proposed to shift from Wednesday to Thursday, meaning the train will not operate on Thursdays.
Revised Timings For Kalaburagi Train
For the Kalaburagi route, SWR has suggested a slight adjustment in schedule. The train is expected to depart Kalaburagi 10 minutes earlier at 6 am and reach Bengaluru by 1:50 pm, instead of the current 2:10 pm arrival.
On the return leg, the service will leave KSR Bengaluru at 2:40 pm and is scheduled to arrive in Kalaburagi at 10:40 pm.
Changes In Maintenance Days For Both Services
According to the TOI report, the proposal also revises maintenance schedules for both trains. The Kalaburagi-Bengaluru service (Train No 22231) will not run on Thursdays instead of Fridays, while the Bengaluru-Kalaburagi service (Train No 22232) will be suspended on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays.
According to SWR officials, these adjustments are being planned in view of shifting maintenance operations to Belagavi. The move is expected to improve efficiency in servicing and overall train operations.
