A startling revelation came to light in Kerala after a beggar who died in a road accident in Alappuzha was found to have been carrying Rs 4.5 lakh in cash. The money was recovered from a container that
reportedly belonged to the deceased, NDTV reported.
As per the report, the beggar was a familiar face in Charummoot and the nearby areas of Alappuzha. The incident took place on Monday night when the beggar met with an accident and sustained injuries.
After this, some locals rushed him to a hospital. However, the man later left the hospital on his own without sharing much information about his whereabouts. As per hospital records, cited by the outlet, his name was Anil Kishore.
The next day, he was found dead outside a shop. A container was found near his body and was taken for inquiry. Upon inspection, a shocking discovery grabbed eyeballs.
The container was filled with cash, and the total money recovered amounted to more than Rs 4.5 lakh. The cash involved foreign currencies as well as banned Rs 2,000 notes. The police stated that the cash was stored inside plastic tins.
According to locals, he used to beg every day, asking for food expenses to make ends meet. However, it never dawned on anyone that he could carry such a huge amount of cash.
Meanwhile, his body has been sent for a post-mortem. The police have said that the cash would be handed to the court, whether or not any family members come to claim the amount, the outlet reported.
