Ram Charan is presently immersed in the shoot of Peddi, his upcoming sports drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana. Once that wraps up, the actor is expected to reunite with filmmaker Sukumar for a much-anticipated
project tentatively titled RC17. However, the film appears to still be in the scripting stage, with the final storyline yet to be locked.
RC17 Script Still In Progress?
At a recent press interaction, Mrithyunjay director Hussain Sha Kiran, who is also co-writing the Sukumar film, shed light on the development. He revealed that the team is currently weighing two different story ideas and hasn’t made a final call yet.
“I am penning one story for the film. However, another story is also being readied by the team. We still don’t know which one we will ultimately go ahead with,” he shared.
With Sukumar reportedly deep in the writing process, it looks like fans may need to be patient before clarity emerges on the film’s direction. The collaboration is particularly exciting as it marks Ram Charan and Sukumar’s reunion after the blockbuster Rangasthalam.
Meanwhile, Hussain Sha Kiran is gearing up for the release of his own directorial venture, Mrithyunjay, a mystery crime thriller starring Sree Vishnu and Reba Monica John. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on February 27, 2026.
Ram Charan’s Upcoming Release: Peddi
Before RC17 takes shape, Ram Charan will headline Peddi, a rural sports drama centered around a cricket tournament. Slated for release on April 30, 2026, the film features Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, with Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu, and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles.
Music for the film is composed by AR Rahman. The first single, Chikiri Chikiri, was unveiled earlier in 2025, and reports suggest the second single is expected to drop in the first week of March. Notably, the film was initially set for a March 27, 2026 release but was later postponed.
With Peddi nearing completion and RC17 still evolving creatively, 2026 is shaping up to be a crucial year in Ram Charan’s career trajectory.
