India bloc MPs were stopped by Delhi Police on Wednesday as they attempted to proceed towards Jantar Mantar for their planned protest. Police personnel also removed Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from
the spot as the situation unfolded.
Several Opposition MPs were subsequently detained by the police as they tried to move towards the designated protest site.
Opposition MPs Stage Protest Over Election Issues
The India bloc had planned the protest at Jantar Mantar as part of its ongoing campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Opposition leaders have raised allegations of irregularities linked to the revision of electoral rolls and have demanded action from the Election Commission.

The MPs had gathered earlier in the day before travelling towards the protest venue. Their movement was stopped by police near Jantar Mantar, where security arrangements had been put in place.
Priyanka Gandhi Removed By Police
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was among the Opposition leaders stopped by the police. Visuals from the spot showed Delhi Police personnel removing her from the area as the protest situation intensified.

The police subsequently detained several MPs who were stopped from proceeding towards the protest site.
Protest Follows Earlier Detentions
The latest action comes a day after Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Opposition leaders were detained during a protest in Delhi after an India bloc march towards the Election Commission was stopped by police.
On Tuesday, Opposition leaders had staged a prolonged protest near Akashvani Bhavan after being stopped from reaching the Election Commission office. They were later detained and subsequently released.
