Aamir Khan On Saiyaara:
Recently, he addressed the prevailing notion that audiences are only interested in watching action films on the big screen. However, that isn’t true. He said if that were the case, movies such as Saiyaara and Sitaare Zameen Par would not have performed well at the box office. While speaking with ETimes, Aamir Khan said, “I believe that we need theatres in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The tier-2 cities have theatres, but as we go deeper, we don’t. I also feel that it’s not that people want to watch only action films in theatres that was the feeling for some time. If that were the case, SZP wouldn’t have done well, and Saiyaara wouldn’t have been such a success. These are phases that keep coming and going. When I did Ghajini, everyone told me that you are doing an action film at a time when this genre was not working. It worked. I think audiences are interested in watching films irrespective of the genre.”
Aamir Khan’s work front:
On the work front, Aamir recently returned to cinemas with Sitaare Zameen Par, which made over Rs 165 crore in India. Up next, he will portray Dadasaheb Phalke in Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming biopic and is also producing Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. He’s set to attend the 2025 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne as Chief Guest. Aamir khan was last seen in a cameo role in Rajnikanth’s Coolie. It follows the story of Deva, a former daily-wage laborer with a dark and mysterious past who emerges from the shadows after decades to avenge a close friend. Rajinikanth plays the titular role in what promises to be a massy yet layered narrative packed with action, suspense, and political undertones.
The film features an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Reba Monica John and Rachita Ram. The soundtrack and background score are composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adding further buzz to the August 14, 2025 release.
