Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan has reportedly been put on ventilator support. If a report by News24 is to be believed, Salman Khan’s father’s blood pressure spiked recently, which caused internal bleeding
on the right side of his brain. Following this, doctors highlighted that the bursting of blood vessels caused internal bleeding. Therefore, Salim Khan will undergo surgery on Wednesday morning. More details are awaited.
Salim Khan was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday morning. Later in the evening, the hospital issued a health bulletin and revealed that the veteran screenwriter is stable but is under close observation. “A team of doctors consisting of Dr Vinay Chavan (neurologist), Dr Ajit Menon (cardiologist) and Dr Nitin Dange (neurosurgeon), and Dr Bineet Ahluwalia attended to him,” said Dr Jalil Parkar.
Salim’s family has also reached the Lilavati hospital to be with him during this time. His son, superstar Salman Khan, was seen at the hospital on Tuesday. Besides Salman, both of Salim Khan’s wives – Salma and Helen were also at the hospital. They were spotted by the paparazzi as they arrived at the hospital to meet their ailing husband.
Salim’s children, including Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan, were also spotted arriving at the hospital on Tuesday. Even Salim Khan’s grandsons, Nirvaan and Arhaan, were seen arriving at meet their ailing grandfather.
Meanwhile, fans have taken to social media to express concern and send wishes for his speedy recovery. Salim Khan, who is aged 90, is regarded as one of the most influential screenwriters in Hindi cinema history.
Salim Khan rose to prominence as one half of the legendary Salim–Javed duo, alongside writer Javed Akhtar. Together, they redefined mainstream Hindi cinema in the 1970s with a string of iconic films. Among their most celebrated works is Sholay, widely considered one of the greatest Indian films ever made. The duo also penned blockbusters such as Deewaar, Zanjeer, and Don, films that helped shape the “angry young man” era of Bollywood. Their writing not only changed storytelling patterns but also elevated the status of screenwriters in the industry.
