to HT City, the gathering may have had a specific purpose: to address the ongoing dispute between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment. What Was the Meeting About? Among those spotted at Aamir’s home were Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Ekta Kapoor, Excel co-founders Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, and Zee Entertainment MD and CEO Punit Goenka. While initial speculation ranged from a new collaboration to a major industry alliance, a well-informed source told HT City that at least one of the meetings focused on resolving the Ranveer–Excel issue. “Aamir is trying to resolve the issues between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment. The two have had some unresolved issues, which have caught the eye. The meetings at his place are for the same,” the source shared. What Sparked the Dispute? The tension reportedly began after Ranveer exited Don 3, which is being produced by Excel Entertainment. The fallout became public amid reports of disagreements over the script and delays. Excel is said to have sought Rs 40 crore in compensation, citing pre-production expenses, scheduling changes and related losses. The production house maintains that groundwork had been completed with Ranveer’s approval. Ranveer, on the other hand, reportedly walked away due to dissatisfaction with the script, the absence of a bound script and concerns over the project’s management. He has also argued that he did not receive any advance payment and was not compensated for time lost when other projects, including Baiju Bawra, were shelved. The Producers Guild of India has reportedly stepped in to mediate. An Attempt at Resolution? Industry insiders believe Aamir may have acted as a neutral figure to bring both sides to the table. The presence of multiple senior producers suggests a wider effort to contain the situation before it escalates further.
