While organisers clarified that all existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date at Mahalaxmi Race Course, the sudden shift sparked immediate backlash online.

What The Concert Means And What’s Next
Despite the delay, Mayer’s India debut remains a major moment for live music fans. Produced by BookMyShow Live, the one-night-only solo show will feature the artist behind hits like Gravity, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room and Waiting On The World To Change. According to Rolling Stone India, Mayer had earlier said that “India has long been on my list of places to play, not just for the vibrancy of its culture but for the way music lives in the everyday lives of people here. To finally perform in Mumbai feels both humbling and exhilarating.”
All About John Mayer
John Mayer emerged as a prominent rock and pop artist in the early 2000s with the release of his albums Room for Squares and Heavier Things. Known for his distinct vocal tone and refined guitar work, Mayer quickly built a reputation as a musician who could balance mainstream appeal with technical credibility. His songwriting and musicianship influenced several artists who followed, particularly for his ability to blend pop structures with blues-driven guitar arrangements.
His subsequent albums, Continuum and Battle Studies, marked a significant phase in his career, both commercially and creatively. These records featured a more layered approach to guitar composition and songwriting, producing widely recognised tracks such as Waiting On The World To Change and Heartbreak Warfare. Battle Studies also included Half of My Heart, a collaboration with pop singer Taylor Swift, further expanding Mayer’s presence in mainstream music.
Over the years, Mayer has explored multiple genres, moving beyond pop-rock into blues, country, Americana and soft rock. Songs like New Light reflected this evolution, while his association with Dead & Company saw him perform the catalogue of the Grateful Dead, positioning him within a legacy-driven rock tradition. His tenure with the band introduced his work to new audiences and reinforced his standing as a versatile live performer.
Mayer has collaborated with a wide range of artists across genres, including blues musicians B.B. King and Eric Clapton, as well as contemporary acts such as Alicia Keys and Ed Sheeran. His live performances are noted for extended improvisations and reinterpretations of his recorded material.
