In Ahmedabad, a shocking incident unfolded at a local jewellery shop when a woman tried to rob the store but ended up facing the jeweller’s swift and unexpected retaliation. The incident reportedly took
place in the Ranip area. The entire episode was captured on CCTV and the video of it now circulating online where it drew attention for the way jeweller handled the situation.
The woman entered the shop with her face partly covered by a dupatta and sat across the jeweller. They both got engaged in conversation. At first, everything seemed normal. But within moments, the situation turned tense when she attempted to attack the jeweller using red chilli powder. Fortunately, the powder missed him completely.
Caught On Camera
The viral video begins with the jeweller seated in his gold and silver shop while the woman sits in front of him. Moments later, she attempts to throw the chilli powder which narrowly misses the jeweller. CCTV footage shows him standing up and slapping the woman multiple times, over 15 times within seconds. He jumped over the counter to reach her and dragged her outside the shop.
According to CCTV, the incident took place on November 3 at around 12:30 PM.
A user shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) with a caption that read, “In Ahmedabad, a woman tried to rob a jewelry store owner by throwing red chili powder into his eyes. Even after the chilli got into his eyes, the owner, who believes in woman-man equality, upheld the equality by giving that female thief 18 resounding slaps with utmost courtesy. Must watch.”

The incident drew widespread attention online with many expressing surprise at the jeweller’s actions.

Police Steps In
According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, Ranip Police Station PI Ketan Vyas stated that while the jeweller has refused to file a complaint, the police have started investigating the woman based on CCTV footage to identify her and take the necessary action.
