Yami Gautam Dhar and Aditya Dhar are inarguably the IT couple of Bollywood right now. In November, Yami delivered a heart-wrenching performance in Haq, earning wide critical acclaim. On the other hand,
Aditya’s Dhurandhar has emerged as the biggest Bollywood blockbuster, surpassing big hits like Pathaan, Jawan and Animal. Before the Ranveer Singh starrer went on floors, Yami had exclusively told News18 Showsha about how she was keen on being a part of it as an actor.
“When I read his next script, I told him that it was one of those rare moments when I wished I was a guy. The script is so brilliant. It’s such an amazing world,” she shared. However, she was quick to add that they make sure to keep their personal and professional lives separate. “Regardless, I don’t have that expectation. We respect that professional line. I don’t think that line should be blurred. We’re very clear about it,” she stated as she shed light on marrying a filmmaker.
“If he feels that somebody else is a better fit for a part that he’s writing, I would be absolutely fine with it. This understanding was there since the very beginning,” she added. On a related note, Yami made it to the credit slate of Dhurandhar where Aditya thanked her. For the unversed, the lovebirds first met on the sets of Uri: The Surgical Strike. Soon, love blossomed and they got married in 2021 in an intimate ceremony. In May 2024, she gave birth to a baby boy and named him Vedavid.
Earlier this year, Yami she opened up on experiencing motherhood and told us, “Motherhood is treating me very well. I’m absolutely loving it. I’ve so many emotions. It’s been more than a year now but it feels like a lifetime. Even as I’m talking, I only have his images coming to my mind and things like what was I doing when I was expecting him and what he does in the mornings now,” she said.
Talking about balancing work and personal life, she said, “There was a time when actresses were asked to hide their marriages and motherhood. So much has changed today. I’m still here. We’re still talking. I’m happy that I’m continuing to work. This industry is giving us that space to be ourselves. It’s great that I can work and focus on my personal life. In my case, I’m also very fortunate that my mother is there both for me and Aditya when we’re at work and shooting.”
Pointing out how Aditya and his family are equally supportive, she remarked, “It’s said that your child is like your heart beating outside of your body and it’s so true. You wouldn’t trust anybody else but your own people to take care of your heart, and who better than your mother! They all chip in – my dad, my sister and sometimes Aditya’s side of the family. It’s nice. I would like to tell anyone who’s on the edge about getting married or having kids that please go for it. Marriage and motherhood are the most beautiful feelings.”
