At a time when work-life balance in India’s corporate and government sectors continues to spark debate, a manager is winning hearts online for demonstrating remarkable empathy and support towards an employee.
The corporate boss’s one-line response to a leave request for a rare holiday trip went viral, as they approved it without fuss and with a smile.
A viral post shared by LinkedIn user Kanika Raina revealed how her boss gave her approval for a set of leaves reserved for a vacation and earned her respect. “My boss approved my leave with just one line: ‘Enjoy your trip to the fullest. Don’t take unnecessary stress.’ That’s when I realised I’m in the right place,” Raina wrote.
Manager’s Employee-Friendly Attitude Earns Respect
The manager truly impressed the employee with his attitude and commitment to fostering a healthy work-life balance within the company. Raina went on to describe her manager, Saurabh Gupta, as a “wonderful leader” and expressed heartfelt gratitude toward him.
“We often talk about work-life balance, but few leaders truly make it a reality. Thank you, Saurabh Gupta sir, for being that rare kind of leader who genuinely walks the talk when it comes to creating balance,” wrote Raina.
“Grateful to be part of a culture that doesn’t just say “We’ve got your back” but actually means it. To all managers and leaders out there, this is how you earn loyalty, build trust, and create lasting impact,” she wrote.
How The Internet Reacted To The Manager’s Response
The digital marketing professional’s post struck a chord with many, who praised the manager’s refreshing attitude and empathy towards his employee. Others pointed out that such understanding and respect from leaders can inspire employees to give their best at the workplace.
“The point here is that the bar is too low. Isn’t that supposed to be an ideal reply from your colleague. I get where you are coming from…even I would be amazed if my manager replies back with safe travels/ enjoy your trip instead of just writing approved….so yeahh I get the overwhelming response on this,” wrote one user.
Another commented, “The bittersweet part about this is realising how much we’ve normalised seeking approval for things that should already be ours—like time to rest and recharge.”
“It feels & sounds so good,” read another comment.
An individual wrote, “Wow…wish I can work in such mentorship.I will deliver more with confidence and relax mind set.”
After reading the viral note, a person commented, “Managers like these are a blessing.”
