The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been holding a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar for over a month, seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and calling for a comprehensive
restructuring of India’s education system.

Amid the ongoing agitation, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) issued an advisory urging students and members of its academic community to exercise caution and prioritise their safety. The university referred to the Supreme Court’s guidelines on public demonstrations and advised students not to participate in or visit protest gatherings at or near Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The advisory also urged students to act responsibly on social media, warning that any violation could result in legal action under relevant laws and disciplinary measures under the university’s code of conduct. It emphasised the importance of academic responsibility and responsible citizenship.

Earlier, Delhi University (DU) had advised students against participating in CJP-led demonstrations. Responding to the situation, the university stated that it understood the concerns and anxiety among students but alleged that certain groups were attempting to exploit those fears. It appealed for calm, saying students should be able to focus on their education and future.
“We see the pain and anxiety of our students. It is unfortunate that vested interests are exploiting their fears instead of easing them. The need of the hour is to calm the situation and reduce their distress, so that they can focus on what truly matters: their studies and their future,” the university said in a statement.
