Well, fans of Salman Khan won’t have to wait much longer for his next film, Maatrubhumi. It was initially scheduled for release in April 2026, however, due to unforseen circumstances, it got delayed. Since
then, the new release date still hasn’t been announced yet.
Notably, some reports surfaced on social media recently that Maatrubhumi might get pushed to 2027, leading to a frenzy among fans. Today, July 20, Salman Khan Films took to X to deny the rumours and confirm that Maatrubhumi will release in 2026 only. They also shared a new poster in which they have written “2026”. SKF tweeted, “A soldier’s promise. A family’s strength. A nation’s pride (sic).”

Maatrubhumi, Salman Khan’s upcoming film co-starring Chitrangada Singh, is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Earlier, there were reports suggesting that Maatrubhumi might get pushed to 2027, as the Ministry of Defence had reservations about the film’s content and the mention of China in it.
As per Bollywood Hungama, a trade source shared, “The issues are yet to be resolved. Even if they are resolved soon, it will now be difficult to secure a good release slot, as most major dates have already been taken. In our industry, it is common for actors and filmmakers to take over a date that has already been claimed by another film. But Salman Khan is an exception. He is very fair and doesn’t believe in clashing with another film unnecessarily. Even if he decides to clash, he will inform the other party before making an announcement.”

Later, SKF issued a statement clarifying that the film had not been submitted to the CBFC. The statement read, “Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has encountered issues with the CBFC or that its certification has been put on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification.”
The statement further read, “Therefore, such reports are entirely baseless. We request that media outlets and individuals refrain from circulating unverified information. Any official updates regarding the film will be shared by Salman Khan Films through its official channels only.”
The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan before being renamed Maatrubhumi.
