Mrunal Thakur, who is currently promoting her upcoming rom-com Do Deewane Seher Mein, revealed that she deeply relates to her on-screen character’s insecurities. In the film’s trailer, her character expresses
that she doesn’t find herself beautiful. Mrunal opened up and said she mirrored her own struggles.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, she shared that the emotional core of the story resonated with her instantly. “There are a lot of people out there, not just girls, but also boys, who have been in that shell. They are so underconfident because someone in the past told them, ‘You’re not good enough!’ There would always be a comparison with their siblings. That resonated the most with me. It took me 30 seconds to hop on.”
She added that despite public perception, she struggled with self-confidence about her appearance for years. “When people say it’s a joke, thank God. But what they see is not what I see,” she said, laughing.
“Up until 2025, I was not confident about how I looked. I felt like maybe I’m a misfit. I felt maybe I’m not good enough because the beauty standards set were completely different.”
Mrunal said her definition of beauty has evolved. “Right now, beauty lies in being authentic and being comfortable in your own skin. And that long journey, somehow finding that space where I am comfortable with the way I am.”
Mrunal Thakur denies Dhanush wedding rumours
Mrunal also addressed rumours linking her romantically with actor Dhanush and claims of an alleged wedding on Valentine’s Day.
In an interaction with Galatta Plus, she firmly denied the speculation and clarified she never made any such announcement.“No. I think 14th April is going to be the 1st April… 14th Feb is going to be the 1st April. April Fools’ Day. Because I don’t know who started… First of all, I’ve been quoted, but I never said anything. And they just said, ‘Mrunal said so.’ I was like, ‘Wow, how beautiful. It’s scary.’”
The rumours gained traction after reports claimed the two were planning to marry on February 14. The buzz around their relationship had intensified after they were spotted together multiple times last year, though Mrunal has not confirmed any relationship publicly.

“After watching Mom, I had told Ravi sir that I want to work with him,” she said, adding that she even pitched herself directly to filmmakers. “Opportunities didn’t come to me easily. I had to create them. I had to chase them… I don’t shy away from doing these things.”
