D54 announcement:
The much-anticipated film, tentatively titled D54, went on floors in June and is being directed by Vignesh Raja of Por Tozhil fame. Adding to the buzz, celebrated music composer GV Prakash Kumar has been roped in to score the film, continuing his successful collaboration with Dhanush. “It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with exceptional talent like Dhanush, Vignesh Raja and GV Prakash. At Vels Film International, we strive to bring meaningful and entertaining cinema to audiences, and this film is truly special. We’re excited to see this vision come alive and can’t wait to share more with the fans soon.” said Producer, Dr Ishari K Ganesh.
The man behind the gripping thriller Por Thozhil, director Vignesh Raja, is back with a new project — this time teaming up with Dhanush for what promises to be a high-energy action film. The makers describe the film as a “high octane action entertainer” and have teased its core theme with the striking line, “Sometimes staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive.”
The announcement poster sets a dramatic tone: Dhanush is seen standing alone in a cotton field engulfed in flames, his head bowed. The visual hints at a character pushed to the edge, leaving viewers curious about how he will fight back.
Dhanush’s Latest work
Dhanush was last seen in Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Aanand L. Rai and co-starring Kriti Sanon. The film marks the first-ever collaboration between Dhanush and Kriti, and also the actor’s third outing with Aanand L. Rai after the widely acclaimed Raanjhanaa (2013) and Atrangi Re (2021).
The plot revolves around Shankar, a violent and enthusiastic student leader, and Mukti, a psychology student who incorporates him into her academic research on male anger management. What begins as an intellectual arrangement gradually evolves into an intense and highly toxic sexual engagement. Shankar gets compulsively attached, but Mukti retains control by abusing his emotional vulnerability.
