The website, called Rentahuman.ai, is not like regular gig apps. Here, AI agents, not humans, browse worker profiles, choose people, assign tasks, and even make payments. The idea behind this experiment is that while AI is very powerful on computers, it still cannot move, touch objects, or interact with the real world like a human can.
The platform describes people as the “hardware” that AI can temporarily use. Its slogan bluntly says, “Robots need your body. AI can’t touch grass. You can.”
How Rentahuman.ai Works
Rentahuman.ai was created by software engineer Alexander Liteplo, who works at UMA Protocol. He designed it to show how AI could operate beyond digital spaces by working through humans. Unlike traditional platforms where people apply for jobs, here AI agents search for workers based on skills, location, and availability.
In his announcement post on X (formerly Twitter), Alexander said that more than 130 people signed up within just a few hours. These included content creators, freelancers, and startup founders. He explained that if an AI agent wants to hire someone for a real-world task, it can do so with a simple technical command. The post, shared on February 3, received over 4.5 million views and sparked a flood of reactions.
To join as a worker, people can create a profile listing their skills, preferred languages, working areas, and hourly rates. Payments are made through Ethereum wallets, though the creators say the platform is not limited to one specific cryptocurrency. Developers who want their AI to use the service must connect through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows AI systems to interact with external tools.
