In a major development in the November 10 Delhi car blast near the Red Fort that killed 13 people and injured several others, investigators have obtained new CCTV footage from the Badarpur Border showing
Umar Nabi, the identified suicide bomber, driving the explosive-laden vehicle before the explosion.
In the video, Umar could be seen paying the toll in cash, a move that further indicates he was avoiding any use of digital devices or electronic transactions to prevent tracking.
The video also shows a bag placed on the rear seat of the vehicle, which investigators suspect contained the explosives used in the deadly blast.
Umar’s identity was confirmed through DNA testing, which matched samples taken from his remains with those of his mother.
Authorities are now piecing together his final movements and tracing his network of associates as part of the ongoing multi-agency investigation into the terror attack.
On Thursday, intelligence agencies revealed a larger terror conspiracy linked to the deadly attack involving more vehicles with explosives to carry out coordinated attacks across multiple locations.
News agency ANI quoted intelligence agency sources as saying that the ongoing investigation has expanded after it was found that the accused had already begun work on modifying an i20 and an EcoSport vehicle for potential use in the attacks.
Investigators are now examining whether other similar vehicles were being readied as part of a broader plan to execute serial blasts.
Further, investigation agencies informed that around eight suspects were allegedly preparing to execute coordinated explosions at four locations, with each pair assigned to a specific target city.
Further, a joint team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Delhi Police on Thursday recovered a body part in New Lajpat Rai Market, near the blast site in the national capital.
The body part was taken for forensic examination to aid the ongoing investigation.
