US President Donald Trump’s hairstyle has once again become a subject of public fascination.
Trump’s iconic hair appeared noticeably darker when he stepped off Air Force One in New Jersey on Friday, September
4, just weeks after he was seen with unusually voluminous, blond hair in Las Vegas.
The president, known for his distinctive swooping golden-blond locks, appeared to be sporting an almost brunette look after Air Force One landed for his weekend getaway to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.
Photographs of Trump as he left the aircraft at Morristown Municipal Airport appeared to show his hair looking darker than usual.
New look sparks online reaction
The apparent change came only days after Trump denied allegations that he wore a wig.
“I don’t wear a wig,” Trump said during a September 2 speech while describing a 2024 campaign rally. “That night, they found out I did not wear a wig because if you did, it was not going to be on your head very long.”
Trump’s darker hair quickly set the internet abuzz, with users commenting on the unusual appearance.
One person wrote, “If I hadn’t pulled the photos from Getty Images myself, I wouldn’t have believed it.”
Jeopardy champion Hemant Mehta joked, “If everyone keeps mocking this, there will be hell toupée.”

“Oh my god. This is so embarrassing. He is an 80 yr old PawPaw trying to hide his gray,” one person said.
“He got a new wig?” asked another.
Another user suggested the change could be seasonal, writing that “Summer’s almost over,” making it “a natural time to switch from bottle blonde to brunette.”
Author Annie Lamott also weighed in, saying: “I love it. So youthful. Very Pierce Brosnan.”
Trump covers hair during golf outing
On Saturday, Trump went golfing with Fox News anchor Bret Baier and several others. However, he wore a red hat bearing the words “Trump was right about everything”, covering much of his hair. This made it impossible to determine whether Friday’s darker appearance was a lasting change or simply a one-off.
It remains unclear how long the new look will last.
Trump has rarely made major changes to his trademark hairstyle, but there is precedent for him doing so.
Trump has changed hairstyle before
In 2019, Trump attended a church service in Virginia and appeared with a slicked-back hairstyle that was somewhat similar to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s look.
The hairstyle did not last long. Trump was seen later that same day with his familiar hairstyle again.
His hair had been the subject of public speculation even before his rise to the presidency. Some people suspected that he wore a wig or had undergone a scalp reduction procedure, something that was referenced during divorce proceedings involving his late first wife.
During his 2016 presidential campaign, the famously germaphobic Trump appeared on the “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”. He allowed the comedian to muss up his hair in an attempt to show that it was real.
