Namit Malhotra has announced that Ramayana Part 1’s trailer release has now been postponed indefinitely. The trailer of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer film was supposed to be released on July 24, Friday. However,
the makers have now decided to release it on a later date after partnering with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Namit Malhotra wrote on Instagram, “Today is a very special moment for our Ramayana. My dream of taking Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In light of the above, we will be launching our trailer now globally at a later date.”

He continued, “In over 100+ years of Indian cinema, this will become a moment of great pride where Ramayana will be shown to the entire world like any major global Hollywood film. This is special as it opens the door for people of the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm.”

Namit’s post has gone viral across social media platforms. While fans were eagerly waiting for Ramayana’s trailer launch today, the partnership announcement has enthused them.
As per details available on the CBFC website, the Ramayana trailer has been given a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate, making it suitable for audiences of all ages. The certification was issued on July 15. The CBFC records also indicate that the makers have two cuts of the trailer. While the standard version has a runtime of 4 minutes and 15 seconds, the theatrical cut is slightly shorter at exactly 4 minutes.
Earlier this year, in April, the team unveiled an introductory teaser, Rama, to coincide with Hanuman Jayanti. Running for 2 minutes and 38 seconds, the teaser offered the first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. It, too, was granted a ‘U’ certificate by the CBFC. Planned as a two-part cinematic saga, Ramayana is set for a worldwide IMAX release. The first instalment is scheduled to hit theatres during Diwali 2026, followed by the second chapter on Diwali 2027.
