In Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, a tragic accident took place that claimed the life of a driver when a hay-laden truck overturned onto a Bolero vehicle. As per reports, the crash took place on Sunday, December
28, on Nainital Road near Pahadi Gate, close to the local power house. It caused severe traffic disruption on the busy highway. The incident was captured on CCTV and the footage has now surfaced on the internet.
According to a report in One India, the Bolero involved belonged to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the electricity department. The driver, 54-year-old Firasat, a resident of Gujar Tola in the Ganj police station area, died instantly in the collision.
Driver Crushed To Death By Truck In UP’s Rampur
Police reports and eyewitness accounts indicate that Firasat was returning home after dropping the SDO at the Khoud substation around 4:30 PM. As he attempted to turn the Bolero at a highway cut near Pahadi Gate, a truck carrying hay approached from behind.
Authorities explained that Firasat began turning without noticing the oncoming vehicle. The truck driver attempted to steer towards the central divider to avoid a direct collision but the front wheel mounted the divider. This caused the truck to tilt, scrape the Bolero and eventually fall onto it. The weight of the truck crushed the SUV completely.
Accident Caught On Camera
CCTV footage shows the Bolero initiating the turn from the highway cut while the truck follows closely behind. As the Bolero moves across the road, the truck swerves to avoid a collision but loses balance.
The visuals show the truck tilting and landing on the SUV which completely flattened it. As per the report, rescue personnel later described the scene as the Bolero being “barely recognisable” under the overturned truck. The intensity of the impact trapped Firasat inside with his head crushed and spine shattered due to the extreme pressure.

Rescue Operations And Traffic Impact
Emergency teams rushed to the spot and began clearing the wreckage using four cranes, two bulldozers and a JCB machine. It took about thirty minutes to lift the truck to access the trapped Bolero.
Traffic along the Delhi-Nainital Highway-87 was stalled for nearly three hours with vehicles backed up for almost two kilometres. Authorities diverted traffic through alternate routes while officers worked to restore partial movement and clear the highway.
Horrifying Crash In UP’s Rampur Sparks Online Outrage
The horrifying visuals circulated on social media that prompted strong reactions from social media users.
One user commented, “Carelessness on the part of the Bolero driver for not checking his mirrors.”
Another said, “Grim visuals—but this is exactly why India needs stricter DL testing, proper lane discipline and real enforcement, not just outrage after crashes. Until we fix training + policing, this chaos repeats.”
“Blind spots, wide turns, shifting loads – staying close to trucks is asking for trouble,” someone else pointed out.
“First of all, the truck is overloaded, and its speed is also too high for city limits. Secondly, heavy vehicles should be prohibited from entering the city during the day; they should only be allowed entry at night, and even then, with a time limit,” read another comment.
Police Response
Police confirmed that Firasat had been driving the SDO’s Bolero and failed to check for the approaching truck before turning. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vidyasagar Mishra visited the site and supervised the clearance operation.
As per the report, he said that the truck driver fled the scene and a search is underway. The Bolero driver’s body has been sent for post-mortem and his family has been informed. The truck has been moved to the police station compound and legal formalities are being completed.
