Thalapathy Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, finally hit theatres on Thursday, July 23. The film had been embroiled in quite the controversy over its certification, and as such, Vijay’s fans have celebrated
the release like a festival. As per Sacnilk, the film’s total worldwide opening day collection stands at Rs 78.27 crore.
According to the tracker, Jana Nayagan’s box office collection on opening day in India (gross) is Rs 48.27 crore and net is Rs 41 crore. The film is well on its way to enter the Rs 100 crore club, and may even achieve this feat in three days. Given its Thursday release, the film is expected to witness a jump in numbers over the weekend.
On opening day, Tamil theatres witnessed the most footfall and the net Jana Nayagan box office collection totalled Rs 36.50 crore. The film earned Rs 2.75 crore net from Telugu and Rs 1.75 crore net from Hindi audiences. Fans were seen flocking to theatres with garlands, offering milk to Vijay’s posters. They also danced in theatres and took to social media to laud Vijay’s title card.
