Have you ever checked the expiry date on your favourite soft drink? A viral video now suggests that what you see on the bottle may not always be accurate and reliable. The shocking video clip is going
viral on social media, exposing just how dangerously easy it is to erase and fake expiry dates on popular beverages using nothing more than hand sanitizer and a tissue.
The video posted on X, shared by user Divya Gandotra, shows how printed expiry labels on bottles of Coca-Cola, Fanta and Red Bull can be wiped off and potentially replaced. The woman demonstrates the disturbingly easy process and warns, “This is a massive safety concern! If anyone can just wipe away an expiry date and stamp a new one, how can we truly trust the freshness of what we’re drinking? This opens the door for scams and serious health risks.”
The post has already sparked huge outrage with thousands of views and shares. Divya is now calling for urgent changes, brands must switch to tamper-proof permanent ink, the government needs stricter regulations, and every product should carry a unique QR code linked to a secure database for instant verification.
Netizens are flooding the comments with anger and real-life experiences. One user shared how popular brands have been caught selling expired products and even future-dated packs, claiming FSSAI has done nothing despite complaints. Another pointed out, “The date can be erased with simple mail scratching or one can use deo or nail polish remover. I mean the ink which is used to print the date is of the cheaper quality than the 10 rupees sketch ink 😂😂”.
Many wondered why companies don’t print expiry dates with the same permanent ink used for brand names, with some suspecting it’s a deliberate loophole to reduce losses on unsold stock.
Others are directly calling out authorities, saying it’s time to raise voices against FSSAI because remaining silent is practically anti-national. Several users demanded immediate implementation of QR codes on every pack, “@fssaiindia Is it that difficult to implement QR Code on the products?”
STAY ALERT! ⚠️
I just discovered how shockingly easy it is to erase and replace expiry dates on popular beverages like Coke, Fanta, and Red Bull using just common hand sanitizer and a tissue.

While a few even suggested banning these high-sugar drinks entirely, “Why shouldn’t all these high calorie and sugary beverages be entirely banned?”
The video has clearly struck a nerve, with people tagging food regulators and demanding accountability. One comment summed up the collective frustration perfectly, “We seriously need to start going back to fresh fruit juices made live in front of our eyes.”
