The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) of Nepal issued Sunday a fresh flood alert for the Bhote Koshi River, urging local authorities and residents in vulnerable areas to
remain on high alert and take precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
The warning comes as Nepal grapples with one of its worst crises in recent years after a glacial collapse in the Himalayas tore through several villages along the Tibetan border, causing massive floods and widespread destruction.
In a post on X, the NDRRMA wrote: “The District Administration Office, Rasuwa, has received information that the sound of increased flood flow in the Bhote Koshi River has been heard.”

The agency urged authorities in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading to exercise caution. “Therefore, we request that caution be exercised in the areas around the river up to Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. We will provide further updates as soon as additional information is received”.
In a separate post, the NDRRMA warned that the flow in the Bhote Koshi is said to have increased further, urging search-and-rescue teams to exercise utmost caution.

“The flow of the flood in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa has reportedly increased further. Therefore, all personnel engaged in search, rescue, and relief operations in affected areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, and surrounding regions, as well as those in riparian zones and other relevant parties, are requested to exercise utmost caution. We will provide updates as soon as further information is received”, the post read.

Death Toll Mounts To 691
The death toll from the Nepal-Tibet floods has mounted to 691, according to the Associated Press. While 675 were reported dead in Nepal, 16 casualties were reported on the Tibetan side.
So far, teams in Nepal rescued nearly 3,000 people, including 163 foreigners, as search-and-relief operations entered their fourth day on Saturday, August 29.
The catastrophic floods in Nepal and Tibet were triggered by a massive glacial and bedrock collapse in the Himalayas that swept through several villages along the Nepal-Tibet border and resulted in massive casualties as well as damage to settlements.
India Sends Aid To Nepal
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Sunday that a fourth flight carrying relief materials was sent to flood-hit Nepal and that the aid was handed over to the concerned authorities.
Writing on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: “Standing with Nepal. The 4th flight carrying 11 tonnes of relief assistance landed in Nepal and relief material has been handed over.”
