Sanju Samson now tops the list of batters with the most sixes in one edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The 31-year-old right-handed batter who broke Rohit Sharma’s record of hitting most sixes for
India in a T20 World Cup edition during the semifinal match against England on March 5 slammed 8 sixes in the final of T20 World Cup 2026 against New Zealand on Sunday, March 8, in Ahmedabad to take his tally of maximums to 24.
No batter in the world has managed to hit more sixes than Samson in one edition of the men’s shortest format mega-event. In the list of batters with most sixes in a T20 World Cup edition, Samson is followed by New Zealand’s Finn Allen. Allen has hammered 20 sixes in eight matches of T20 World Cup 2026 for New Zealand.

In the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is taking place between India and New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium, Samson opened the innings for the hosts and played a knock of 89 runs from 46 balls. During his stay at the crease, he slammed 5 fours and 8 sixes.

Samson added 98 runs from 43 balls for the first wicket with Abhishek Sharma (52 runs from 21 balls) and 105 runs from 48 balls for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan (54 runs from 25 balls).
By scoring 89 runs in the final of the T20 World Cup, Samson also extended his tally of runs to 321 in the T20 World Cup 2026. He now tops the list of batters with the most runs in one edition of the T20 World Cup for the Men in Blue. The previous record was in the name of Virat Kohli. In the 2014 T20 World Cup, Kohli amassed a total of 319 runs in six matches.
