New Delhi, Jun 21 (PTI) From the celebrated Taj Mahal in Agra to the iconic Warangal Fort in Telangana, yoga sessions were hosted on the premises of several ASI sites across the country to mark the International
Day of Yoga.
In Delhi, Union Culture Secretary Vivek Aggarwal attended a session held at the Purana Quila here, where he was joined by the director general of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Yadubir Singh Rawat, and other senior officials.
This year marks the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, which emphasises the importance of yoga for all ages.
On the occasion, the ASI organised yoga day celebrations across ASI-protected monuments nationwide under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, the ASI said in a post on X.
It also shared a video showcasing visuals of some of the sites which hosted yoga sessions.
These included Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri in Agra, Uttar Pradesh; Deeg Palace, Rajasthan; Warangal Fort, Telangana; Bidar Fort, Karnataka and Bekal Fort, Kerala.
“Against the backdrop of India’s timeless heritage, participants, officials, yoga enthusiasts, and visitors came together to perform yoga asanas, embracing the message of holistic well-being, active living, and harmony between mind and body,” the ASI posted.
In a separate post, it wrote that reflecting this year’s theme, a special session highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical well-being, mental balance, and a healthier lifestyle was held at Purana Qila, Delhi.
“Set against the backdrop of the historic monument, the celebrations were graced by Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture. Also present at the occasion were Shri Yadubir Singh Rawat, DG, ASI and other senior officials. The program also saw active participation from school children,” it added.
The ASI has 3,686 archaeological sites and monuments under its jurisdiction across the country. PTI KND AMJ AMJ
