Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has said that Abhishek Sharma just goes hard at every ball, adding that the latter’s chances of failure are also high due to his hard-hitting skills, stoking the fire
just two days ahead of an India vs Pakistan clash at the T20 World Cup.
Unimpressed by Abhishek’s batting, Amir labelled him ‘just a slogger’, suggesting that all he does is swing hard at the ball. The former featured in India’s tournament opener against the USA but was dismissed first ball.
Abhishek then missed the Namibia clash in Delhi because of illness, having not recovered. With only two days left and the team all set to travel to Sri Lanka, his availability for Sunday’s blockbuster remains uncertain.
“By whatever little I have seen, if you ask me honestly, I feel he (Abhishek) is just a slogger. He has to go hard at every ball. The day he gets going, it is fine; otherwise, uske failure ke chances zyaada hain (The chances of his failure are high),” Amir said while speaking on a Pakistani TV show.
Muhammad Amir on Abhishek Sharma:
“Honestly, he’s just a slogger. His chances of failure are high. He’s not a technically sound batsman. It’s not difficult to tackle such a batsman if you bowl on the body line. He will also struggle against slow balls.” pic.twitter.com/6lsABj8sdl

“He (Abhishek) scores once in 8 innings. Otherwise, his scores are 10, 15, 0 and 20. I don’t think he is technically sound. He just stands there and wants all balls to be bowled in a particular area,” Amir added.
Abhishek has faced Pakistan twice in T20Is during last year’s Asia Cup, scoring 31 in the league stage and 74 in the Super Fours as India won both encounters. In the final, he managed just five, though the outcome remained unchanged.
