Here are five weekend releases in theatres you do not want to miss:
Border 2 (January 23)
The highly anticipated sequel to the 1997 classic is finally hitting cinemas this week. Starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh and Ahan Shetty in the lead, Border 2 is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. Expect massive battle scenes, patriotic songs, and stories about soldiers that hit hard.
Mercy (January 23)
Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson’s science fiction action thriller follows a detective on trial for his wife’s murder. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the film also features Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, and Kylie Rogers in prominent roles.
Marty Supreme (January 23)
Timothée Chalamet’s much-awaited comedy drama, Marty Supreme, is all set to premiere in Indian theatres this week. Directed by Josh Safdie, the film is set in the 1950s and is loosely based on the life of American table tennis player Marty Reisman.
Alongside Timothée Chalamet, the film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher in supporting roles.
Return to Silent Hill (January 23)
This supernatural psychological horror film is the third installment in the Silent Hill film series. Based on the video game Silent Hill 2, the film follows James, who returns to Silent Hill in search of his lost love.
Helmed by Christopher Gans, the film stars Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson in the lead.
Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies (January 22)
This Malayalam action-comedy, directed by Advaith Nayar, is based on WWE. The film follows a group of misfits who form a wrestling club in Kochi. The film stars Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath in lead roles, along with Siddique and Lakshmi Menon in supporting roles.
The action-comedy also features cameos from multiple superstars, including Mammootty.
