Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central government over the NEET paper leak issue and the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that the former
Union Education Minister was removed to protect Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking as Parliament resumed discussion on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, Akhilesh said the government had “bowed before the youth” over the issue.
He also questioned the government’s handling of examination leaks, saying, “Jo chadhava chor ko nahi rok paye woh paper leak kaise rokenge. (One who could not check temple donation theft, how will he check paper leak).” He claimed that NEET paper leaks would happen again in the future.\

Questions anti-paper leak measures
Akhilesh said students of Classes 10 and 12 had also faced paper leaks and alleged that the government had no answer for them.
He questioned the effectiveness of the proposed legislation, saying the government had brought a similar bill in 2024, yet the NEET paper leak still took place. He also alleged that the country’s top institutions had been ruined by the RSS.
Targets govt over schools and politics
The Samajwadi Party leader alleged that the government had targeted primary schools and shut them down so that poor and needy children could not study.
He further accused the government of practising the politics of hatred and claimed it had failed to deliver justice to anyone.
Referring to the Emergency, Akhilesh said the government was committing injustice that was “no less than the Emergency”. He said change had come after the Emergency and expressed hope that it would happen again. He also remarked that even during the Emergency, “electric current” was not used.
Addressing the government on the Ram Temple donation theft over the alleged “chadhava chori”, Akhilesh said God would not forgive those involved, calling it a “maha paap”.
The Centre initiated discussion on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. It was introduced by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday. The bill proposes stricter punishment, higher fines and minimum jail terms for paper leak offences, along with fast-track courts. The legislation could not be passed in the Lok Sabha on Monday due to opposition sloganeering.
