Why was Nora Fatehi questioned in the Sukesh case?
Nora’s name came up during the investigation into Sukesh and his alleged extortion activities. The actor was earlier questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) about her interactions with Sukesh and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose.
During questioning, Nora told investigators that she had been invited to a party by the couple. She claimed that she was offered expensive gifts instead of cash for her performance. These gifts reportedly included a BMW car and designer items, including a Gucci bag. Investigators also looked into the gifts as part of their probe. Nora maintained that she had no personal connection with Sukesh and was a victim of his alleged network. She also said that she stopped communicating with him after realising that something was wrong.
Her statement was recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC. She was later named as a prosecution witness in the supplementary chargesheet. Nora had told investigators that her interactions with Sukesh were through his wife.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar made fresh allegations against Nora
The matter took another turn when Sukesh made several claims about Nora in a handwritten letter. He alleged that he had given her crores of rupees to help her buy a house in Casablanca, Morocco. He also asked the actor to stop claiming that she was a victim and threatened to release their alleged conversations. Sukesh further claimed that Nora was jealous of his relationship with Jacqueline Fernandez. He alleged that she would call him several times a day and ask him to end his relationship with Jacqueline.
What is the ₹200-crore Sukesh Chandrashekhar case?
Sukesh Chandrashekhar is accused of extorting nearly ₹200 crore from the wives of former Ranbaxy promoters Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh. The alleged fraud took place while he was lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail.
