As thousands of students continue to protest in Delhi over NEET paper leaks earlier this year and demand reforms in the education system, one resident from Nagaland found a heartfelt way to support the movement
from over 2,000 kilometres away. Unable to join the protest in person, he decided to order food for those protesting at Jantar Mantar.
Taking to Instagram, the young man named Dielhi Dienu shared that he felt sad for not being able to join the protest. So, instead, he showed solidarity with the protestors by ordering food worth over Rs 67,000 and instructing the delivery executive to distribute it to anyone who had not eaten.
“The Least I Could Do”
“Tonight, I couldn’t enjoy my own dinner with the grief that I couldn’t be there at the protest, and my fellow brothers and sisters are there starving,” he wrote. “I’m sitting here in Nagaland, while thousands of students are at Jantar Mantar, far away from home, fighting for what they believe is a better future and a fairer education system. I couldn’t be there with them, so this was the least I could do.”
He attached screenshots of the order, which revealed that he ordered 150 Farmhouse Cheese Burst pizzas from Domino’s on July 22 at around 4:30 PM, which were to be delivered to the protest site. The total cost of the pizzas was Rs 64,650, and after adding taxes, the restaurant charges and delivery fees, the total came to Rs 67,734.
In the post, he mentioned that he specifically instructed the delivery partner to enter the crowd and hand the pizzas to anyone who needed food. “When he called and asked, ‘Sir, whom should I deliver this to?’ I replied, ‘Please just give it to anyone who hasn’t eaten.’ After a brief silence, his voice trembled as he said, ‘Aap toh bhagwan ho un logo ke liye,’” he wrote. “That moment hit me so deeply.”
“Maybe he was thinking about the students. Maybe he has siblings or children studying. I don’t know his story, but his words reminded me that this movement affects far more people than those standing at the protest site,” he added. “I’m not posting this to show off. I’m posting this because I want people to know that you don’t have to be in Delhi to help.”
“People Like You Restore Faith In Humanity”
In no time, his post garnered immense attention, with people praising his kindness and heartwarming gesture towards those who are protesting in Delhi.
“Need more of these kinds of people in our society,” a user wrote.
“Bro didn’t order a regular Farmhouse. He added Cheese Burst as well, and that’s the best combo. Respect,” another pointed out.
Someone else said, “People like you restore faith in humanity. May God reward your kindness a thousandfold and bless you beyond measure for everything you’re doing.”
“I’ve experienced hospitality of the North East first hand and now this. Super super honoured to know this,” a different person shared.
