Thirteen years after the theatrical release of Homi Adajania’s romantic comedy film ‘Cocktail’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, the director has returned to helm its sequel Cocktail 2
with a fresh trio leading the cast. Several reports online suggested that Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna would start shooting for the sequel in August. However, the makers had not officially confirmed the cast or the filming schedule, until now. Recently, director Homi Adajania confirmed Kriti’s role by sharing a ‘work in progress’ photo of her. Kriti has now reacted to his Instagram story, sharing how excited she is for the new journey.
On Thursday, director Homi Adajania shared a photo of Kriti Sanon, confirming that she will play the female lead in Cocktail 2. Taking to his Instagram story, the film’s director shared a monochrome portrait of Kriti, hiding her face with a sticker that read, “Work In Progress.” He added, “@kritisanon #Thescicilianchapter #Cocktail2,” teasing an exciting new chapter in the beloved franchise. Fans were eagerly waiting for Kriti to react to his story, and she finally has! Re-sharing Homi Adajania’s story, she wrote, “This is gonna be a liberating journey…I can feel it..” Take a look!

Director Homi Adajania is set to return to the director’s chair for Cocktail 2, reportedly starrig Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. The film is backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and written by Luv Ranjan. While details about the plot are being kept under wraps, the makers are aiming for a theatrical release in the second half of 2026.

Around the same time, Kriti was seen leaving the Maddock Films office in Mumbai, hinting that preparations are in full swing. This marks Kriti and Shahid’s second film together after their successful pairing in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya in 2024.
