and worked with him in the 2018 film ‘Kaala’, has now paid tribute to the actor. He called Nana his ‘dear friend’ and expressed disbelief and shock over his demise. Rajinikanth also offered his condolences to the actor’s family and loved ones.
Rajinikanth Pays Tribute To Nana Patekar
Rajinikanth took to his social media to share a tribute for Nana Patekar. “I can’t believe my dear friend Nanaji is no longer with us. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace,” he wrote.

Rajinikanth and Nana Patekar shared a good bond, and they collaborated in the 2018 Tamil film Kaala. Directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film saw Rajinikanth play Karikaalan, popularly known as Kaala, a powerful figure in Mumbai’s Dharavi, while Nana Patekar portrayed the ruthless politician Haridev “Hari Dada” Abhayankar, setting up a gripping clash between the two actors.
Nana Patekar’s Death
Nana Patekar passed away at the age of 75 following a cardiac arrest. According to reports, he complained of severe chest pain at his residence in Goa, following which a medical team was dispatched to his flat. He was reportedly unconscious when they arrived and was given cardiac massage before being taken to a private hospital in Dona Paula.

Doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead at 5:20 AM. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for today as part of the medical and legal process to establish the exact cause of death.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, said medical staff made continued efforts to revive the actor for around 45 minutes. However, Patekar remained in asystole throughout the resuscitation attempts and could not be revived.
“Despite 45 minutes of continuous CPR, he could not be revived. A medico-legal case (MLC) has been registered, and a post-mortem will be conducted,” Dr Salkar said.
