What is the story about?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a brief stopover visit to the United Arab Emirates in May while travelling for a four-nation tour of Europe. The visit, expected to last around three to four hours,
comes at a time of heightened diplomatic engagement between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi amid major developments in global energy markets.
The planned halt assumes added significance as it comes just months after UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, popularly known as MBZ, visited India in January. It also follows high-level outreach by India in April, when National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar both travelled to the UAE.
