The song Chaiyya Chaiyaa from Dil Se has gained a cult status and it is impossible to match Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora’s energy in the music video. Farah Khan, the choreographer, had once revealed
that casting Malaika in the song was a last minute call. When she appeared on the popular chat show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, she said that they approached many people for the song before settling on Malaika. She also mentioned that she knew Malaika long before they shot the track.
Farah said, “We actually tried for a lot of people. We had no one even one week before the song was supposed to be shot.” The choreographer stated she desperately called Malaika to be a part of the song, despite not knowing if she could dance or not. She added, “I didn’t even know if she could dance. But I knew that her look was right. She looks beautiful.” At the end, she admitted that Malaika ended up giving a mind-blowing performance in the ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ track.

Malaika and Shah Rukh Khan performed the classic dance on top of a moving train. Farah choreographed the captivating piece, which remains one of the most recognisable compositions, known for its energetic moves and meaningful lyrics. It continues to inspire dance aficionados till date. Manisha Koirala and Preity Zinta (in their debut film) also played prominent roles in Dil Se.

After years of speculation and fan petitions, Farah Khan has shared that she would return as a director. She has hinted about the release date of her forthcoming film. Farah revealed the news while visiting actor Nakuul Mehta at his Mumbai home during one of her YouTube vlogs. During their talk, Nakuul expressed how much he missed Farah’s films. That statement opened the way. Farah stated that direction is now back on her priority list.
