Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, discussing the evolving security situation in West Asia and reaffirming India’s
position on regional stability.
“Spoke with HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait and conveyed greetings on the upcoming festival of Eid,” PM Modi said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). During the conversation, PM Modi noted, “We exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia and shared concerns over recent developments.”
He reiterated India’s strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The remarks come as Kuwait faces increasing spillover from the ongoing regional conflict, with Iran carrying out missile and drone strikes targeting military installations and strategic infrastructure across Gulf countries.
Kuwaiti air defence systems have been activated in response to repeated alerts, with incidents impacting areas linked to military presence and logistics.
The Prime Minister further emphasised, “Ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains our foremost priority,” highlighting growing concerns over disruptions in one of the world’s most critical energy corridors. The Strait, through which a significant share of global oil supply passes, has seen heightened tensions, with Iran tightening control and raising fears of supply disruptions and a broader energy crisis.
Both leaders agreed that “sustained diplomatic engagement remains essential for regional peace and stability”, PM Modi shared.
PM Modi also thanked the Kuwaiti leadership, saying, “I thanked him for continued support for the safety and wellbeing of the Indian community in Kuwait.”
