An Indian high-tech employee revealed experiencing constant burnout amid a toxic work culture at his 30 LPA job. In a reddit post, the individual revealed that they have been working in backend development
at a company based in Delhi-NCR and can’t bear the “extreme” work pressure, constant anxiety and recurring breakdowns anymore.
While the company is offering the employee an advance salary package, the techie confirmed they stand on the verge of quitting due to toxic work practices that have severely impacted their mental health. The person highlighted that they have been made to work for extensive hours even on festivals, which has given them no time to recuperate and be fresh at their desk.
Techie Earning 30 LPA Made To Feel ‘Constant Burnout’
In his post, the techie explained, “My high tech job is causing problems that I can’t bear anymore. Since the day I started, I’ve been struggling with severe anxiety. A year in, it has worsened. I now face frequent headaches, mental breakdowns, and constant burnout at a young age.”

The backend professional gave a few details about the intense work environment that has made it increasingly difficult for them to cope with the job. “The work pressure is extreme, we need to often work long on major Indian festivals due to business needs. Sick leave usually just means work from home while sick. No hybrid policy, it’s five days a week in a highly toxic environment,” the employee said.
“All of this is taking a serious toll on my mental health. This post is not about salary discussion, it’s about how I want my present and future to turn out to be,” he added.
Techie Stuck At The Job, Can’t Quit Without Backup
Unfortunately for the struggling techie, their recent job search has also produced no desired results. The backend professional revealed feeling hesitant to quit the job without another offer at hand that also doesn’t force them to relocate from NCR.
“I sometimes feel like just quitting without another offer lined up. But going from a stable, high salary to zero income is daunting, even though I have no major financial responsibilities right now. The fear of not finding another role — especially when I see people with more experience struggling — makes me hesitate,” the techie wrote.
The employee then asked other Reddit users to suggest whether they should stay at the existing job for more experience before switching or prioritise their mental health and quit immediately. The post attracted varied responses.
“Your health is more important than any salary. A break now may save you in the long run,” a user sympathised with the techie.
Another person advised, “Don’t quit without a plan. Try switching internally or wait till you land another role.”
“This is the story of most techies in NCR. The toxic environment eats you alive,” someone remarked.
