Six loaded wagons of a coal-laden goods train derailed between the Ghaziabad and New Delhi section of the Delhi Division on Tuesday, disrupting rail traffic on one of the key routes into the national capital,
railway officials said.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) and other senior railway officials are at the site.
According to railway officials, the derailment has affected a total of 53 trains. Of these, 24 trains have been diverted via Delhi-New Delhi, 16 passenger trains have been cancelled, five passenger trains have been partially cancelled and eight trains have been regulated.
The freight train was carrying coal, officials said.
