A massive explosion rocked an apartment building in Agartala on Friday, prompting the deployment of police, bomb disposal, forensic and dog squads to the scene. Authorities said casualties were reported,
though the exact number and the cause of the blast were yet to be confirmed.
Speaking to ANI, SDPO (Sadar) Deba Prasad Roy said, “We received information that a loud explosion-like sound was heard in an apartment and casualties have also occured. We arrived and discovered that this had happened in a room on the first floor of the apartment building. We called in the bomb squad, forensic team, and dog squad… We have currently seized whatever we can find and hopefully we can find out why this happened.”
The explosion caused significant damage inside the apartment, with its impact extending to nearby parts of the building. The loud blast sparked panic among residents, many of whom rushed out of their homes as the incident unfolded.

The injured were rushed to the hospital as police cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Officials said evidence recovered from the spot has been seized, while forensic experts are examining the scene to determine the cause of the explosion.
