The war in Iran has entered its 33rd day, with tensions continuing to rise across the region. Dr Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, called for peace and praised
India’s diplomacy in this crisis situation.
“We have to talk about peace. We have to bring peace to the world,” he said, adding that Indian diplomacy is strong and can play a bigger role. He also said the war was a “very big mistake” and not just against Iran, but against the whole world, with people across countries suffering.
Ilahi said, “Indian diplomacy is very good, and they can also play a more significant role in this issue… From the beginning, it was a very big mistake. It wasn’t just this war against Iran, but this war was against all human beings; it was against the whole world. You will see that the result of this war is that a lot of people in different countries are suffering at the moment…”
India seen as key mediator in Iran war
Earlier, Iran’s ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, said New Delhi could play an “effective and positive” role in reducing tensions between Iran, the US and Israel. He pointed to India’s balanced foreign policy and ties with all sides.
This came after Donald Trump announced a temporary pause on escalation and sent a 15-point ceasefire plan to Tehran through Pakistani intermediaries. Pakistan has also offered to host talks, though its past links to militant activities add complexity.
Indian tankers continue Hormuz transit
Amid the tensions, another India-flagged vessel, Green Asha, has safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz. This is the ninth Indian tanker to pass through the route since the conflict began.
Green Asha, an LPG tanker, moved through the region despite disruptions in one of the world’s most critical oil routes. Several Indian vessels have already completed similar journeys.
Two LPG carriers, BW TYR and BW ELM, transported around 94,000 tonnes of cargo through the conflict zone. Between March 26 and 28, Pine Gas and Jag Vasant delivered 92,612 tonnes of LPG.
Earlier, MT Shivalik and MT Nanda Devi carried about 92,712 tonnes of LPG to Mundra Port in Gujarat and Kandla Port on March 16 and 17. Jag Laadki delivered 80,886 tonnes of crude oil from the UAE to Mundra on March 18, while Jag Prakash crossed safely carrying gasoline from Oman to Africa.
Other vessels that have passed safely include Shivalik, Nanda Devi, Jag Laadki, Pine Gas, Jag Vasant, BW Tyr, BW Elm and Green Sanvi, which crossed on Friday night with about 46,650 metric tonnes of LPG.
Iran war is currently in its sixth week.
