Bollywood actor Aamir Khan joined the Tata Mumbai Marathon on Sunday along with his former wife Kiran Rao and their children Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, and Azad Rao Khan. The family was spotted interacting
with the media after the run, where both Aamir and Kiran addressed concerns around Mumbai’s deteriorating air quality.
When asked about the city’s pollution levels, Aamir responded candidly, saying, “Haan abhi kya kare?” On being reminded that Mumbaikars are not accustomed to such conditions, he simply added, “I know!”
Kiran Rao Urges Citizens to Take Responsibility for AQI
Kiran Rao elaborated on the issue, stressing the need for collective action. “We all need to raise our voices, get involved, and understand the causes. Do our bit as citizens, get involved to change the AQI in our city,” she said.
Echoing her thoughts, Aamir agreed and added, “Contribute in a positive way.”

Why Aamir Khan Decided to Run the Marathon
During the interaction, Aamir revealed that it was his daughter who pushed him to take part in the marathon this year. Sharing what motivated him, he said, “Jo excitement humne dekha people with disabilities ke run mein aur senior citizens ke run mein, toh ab mujhe bhi laga ke har saal aana chahiye. Bahot kamal ka spirit hai Mumbai ka.”
He added that witnessing the enthusiasm and resilience of the participants made him realise the true spirit of the city.
Aamir Khan’s Recent and Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, Aamir Khan was recently seen in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, where he made a cameo appearance and also served as the film’s producer. The Vir Das-starrer has received mixed reviews and a modest box office response.
Aamir is next backing Ek Din, starring his son Junaid Khan alongside Sai Pallavi. The film’s teaser was released recently and has generated curiosity among audiences.
As an actor, Aamir is reportedly set to play the legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke in an upcoming biopic to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, though an official announcement is still awaited. He has also confirmed that work has begun on his long-gestating dream project based on the Mahabharat.
