A video recently began circulating on the Internet, showing a woman mocking her former classmate for working as a pizza delivery agent. The Instagram reel soon went viral across social media platforms,
where the viewers empathised with the young man for working with honour and dignity. The woman, on the other hand, faced the wrath of social media commentators for lacking empathy and being disrespectful towards the man, who was simply doing his job.
As it turns out, the video was a skit put together by a group of friends. Those who watched the original video are now fuming at the woman’s “clarification” video.
“You Used To Motivate Everyone”
The video turned the Internet against the woman, questioning her former classmate’s job, while recounting his assertive and confident days at the school.
“You used to motivate everyone in school and now you’re delivering pizza?” she questioned the man. She added that she would share the video with her old schoolmates while laughing at his situation. The man maintained a smile while appearing uncomfortable during the interaction.
The video was shared and reshared across social media platforms, including X.
“A pizza delivery boy met his school-time female friend on the road… She started recording and mocked him: “You used to motivate everyone in school… and now you’re delivering pizza?” Then she said she’ll send the video to other friends too,” wrote X user @SaffronChargers.
“She laughed… but didn’t think for a second: Boys’ life isn’t easy. Sometimes responsibilities come before age. Dreams get buried. Self-respect gets tested.
Delivering pizza isn’t shameful. Mocking someone’s struggle is. Being a boy is not easy,” the user added.

The video has been watched nearly 5 million times on X.
“Failed As A Human”
The woman drew criticism from every corner for her demeanour and insensitive display.
“She failed as a friend, as a human, as a woman,” commented one.
“Sadly, in India if you don’t have academic achievements, you’re considered a loser.”
“Nothing shameful about honest work.”
Siddharth Anand Reacts
Such was the virality of the video that it landed on filmmaker Siddharth Anand’s X timeline, who called the delivery executive a “real hero”.
“He’s a hero! Whoever you are. You’re a real hero!! You’re working hard! You’re working honestly. Earning for yourself. Not being a burden on anyone. No work is less. Or more. True hero. You have my respect (sic).”
“It’s A Joke”
Realising that their video had registered more views than they had ever anticipated, the group of friends revealed that the video was, in fact, a work of fiction.
“We are four friends. We had just eaten at Burger King and stepped out, and we made the video as a joke. These days, if any video goes viral, people don’t check anything. They just pick it up and post it,” a person in the second video said.
“News channels and others doing this should find out the truth behind a video. We are clarifying this because someone has made a fake ID, and we don’t want anyone asking for money using it. We are creators from this place, so we keep posting content regularly. People are giving hate to the girl and even turning it into politics, but the video was made just for fun. We could take advantage of this situation, but we won’t,” they added.
“Don’t Blame The Audience”
Redditors strongly reacted to the follow-up video made by the group. In the second video, the group blamed the audience for falling for their elaborate skit.
“the audacity to lie first and then blame the audience for trusting it (sic),” a user wrote on r/indiasocial.
The discussion also feared that authentic stories could now be labelled as attempts at ‘karma farming’ by viewers.
“The Boy who cried WOLF!!! Except now the victim would be any person who’s actually suffering like this. People would dismiss their stories as nothing but Karma farming,” part of a reaction read.
Many voiced that instead of putting the onus on the audiences for empathising with the man and his “struggles,” the group should have apologised and owned up for selling the fake story on social media.
To all the karmafarmers and media outlets that were posting without even crosschecking once

“This is so stupid. Why make the video in the first place. First you create a narrative ( that to class shame a guy) and end up hating the repercussions of it. Obviously with AI and social media , people have to be careful what they put into the internet, as it can be there forever and be manipulated without your permission. Instead of blaming the audience, just take some responsibility in owning up (sic).”
Ragebait
“Rage Bait” was announced as the Oxford Word of the Year 2025. Online content made with the primary focus of eliciting angry emotions or reactions to drive up engagement and views is called rage baiting.
“Online content deliberately designed to elicit anger or outrage by being frustrating, provocative, or offensive, typically posted in order to increase traffic to or engagement with a particular web page or social media account,” Oxford University Press noted.
