Global pop star Enrique Iglesias is set to make a grand return to India after 13 long years — and this time, he’s not just coming to perform. The Bailamos hitmaker, who is gearing up for his Mumbai concerts,
plans to extend his stay in the country to soak in its history and culture, including a long-awaited visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra.
A source close to the team revealed to Hindustan Times that Enrique, who couldn’t see the monument during his previous visit, is making it a priority this time around.
“He regrets not seeing the Taj Mahal”
According to the source, as quoted in HT, “He regrets not seeing the Taj Mahal during his last trip and is now eager to immerse himself in the beauty of this historic site.” The insider added that Enrique “enjoys exploring the culture of every city he performs in,” which is why he intends to spend extra time in India after his shows in Mumbai.
Enrique Iglesias’ return to India
The Spanish singer-songwriter, known for global hits like Rhythm Divine and Bailamos, will perform at Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex on October 29 and 30. This marks his first concert in India in over a decade, making it one of the most awaited live events of the year.
In a recent interview, Enrique spoke about the excitement surrounding his India gigs and the overwhelming fan response after tickets sold out within minutes of the announcement. “You never know when you first announce, but I will say that I had a great feeling about India specifically. The fans there are so amazing and dedicated,” he told Hindustan Times.
During his last visit to India, Enrique expressed admiration for the country’s music and even collaborated with artists like Sunidhi Chauhan. Reflecting on that, he shared, “I am always listening and watching. I have done duets and remixes in the past with various Indian artists and am always considering the future.”
But although Enrique is a heartthrob of many, he has never been able to make his Bollywood debut. When asked if there had been any offers, he shared what he lacked in the same regard. “If I could dance, maybe it would work,” he mentioned.
