Smith triumphed over Joanna Garland in the final of the novelty event at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne to claim the AO 1 Point Slam crown.
Smith defeated top-ranked stars such as Jannik Sinner and Amanda Anisimova on his way to the final, while Garland reached the final by overcoming big names like Alexander Zverev and Nick Kyrgios.
The inaugural event featured 16 amateur players, eight wildcard entries, and 24 professionals, including Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff.
In the AO 1 Point Slam, amateurs face professionals in a single-point fixture, with the winner advancing. The receiver of the serve is determined by a round of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Professionals get one serve, while amateurs are given two.
