Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Uzbekistan on Saturday to kick off his two-day visit to the Central Asian nation. The Prime Minister received a warm welcome at the Tashkent airport by Uzbekistan President
Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. The two leaders will review cooperation in trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people domains and set the agenda for the road ahead.

This is PM Modi’s fourth visit to Uzbekistan. After his arrival, he visited Yangi Uzbekiston Park and laid a wreath at the Independence Monument after arrival. President Mirziyoyev accompanied Modi to the monument established on the 30th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Before his departure, PM Modi noted that the bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan have enhanced in recent years.
“At the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, I will visit Tashkent on 29-30 August for a State Visit. In recent years, the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership has seen significant advancement,” he said.
The Prime Minister said his discussions with Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev would cover diverse areas, including trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence, energy, and others.
He will also visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, describing them as a tribute to the close cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
After concluding visit to Uzbekistan, PM Modi will travel to the Kyrgyz to participate in the 26th SCO Summit. The summit marks the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), of which India has been a full member since 2017.
