Prabhas starrer horror comedy The Raja Saab is one of the most awaited films. Fans are waiting for it, but it looks like they will have to wait a little longer. According to the latest reports, the film’s
release has been postponed once again, with the makers reportedly eyeing a new date for its big theatrical debut.
The 123 Telugu mentioned that at the Mirai trailer launch event, producer TG Vishwa Prasad confirmed that the movie will release in theaters on January 9, 2026, as a special Sankranthi release. This Sankranthi is set to be even more exciting for audiences, with films like Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu and Anaganaga Oka Roju, as well as Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, hitting the big screens. The Raja Saab is a horror-comedy produced on a massive budget, featuring Sanjay Dutt in a crucial role.
Earlier also, the entertainment portal mentioned that in the recent interview producer TG Vishwa Prasad revealed the team’s current release plan. He said they are planning to release the movie on January 9, 2026, to take advantage of the Sankranthi season, adding that it was a request from people involved in the film’s business. He also mentioned that Bollywood buyers are insisting on sticking with the December 5, 2025 release. A few songs and some patchwork are yet to be completed, the producer added.
Shooting still not completed:
India Today has quoted a source saying, “Filming was briefly halted due to the union strike, but with the situation now under control, production has resumed. Only a few key scenes remain, along with three songs, all of which the team aims to complete in the next two months.”
The source added, “This is one of the tightest schedules Prabhas has worked on in recent times. The team has mapped out every day until October to make sure there are no further delays. The idea is to finish the principal shooting and parallelly push VFX work so that everything is ready on time.”
The Raja Saab teaser:
The Raja Saab teaser begins by introducing fans to a haunted mansion, soaked with dark secrets from the past. As sinister energy and spirits lurk in the night, Prabhas takes it as a mission to wipe out the evil. The teaser consists of all the crucial elements of a Prabhas film – there’s a massy entry, dance, dialogues, and the actor perfectly balancing action with comedy. One of the show-stealers from the Hindi version of the teaser has to be Prabhas asking Nidhhi whether she’s ever fallen in “Shah Rukh Khan wala pyaar”. “Here we go……. #TheRajaSaab Teaser out now! In theatres from Dec 5th, 2025,” wrote the actor while presenting his latest work to all his Darlings.
The Raja Saab:
The Raja Saab is touted to be a horror-comedy, marking a genre break for Prabhas after having featured in action or fantasy dramas in the past few years. The film features a Haveli that’s unlike anything seen before in Indian cinema. This grand set, spanning 41,256 sq ft, is officially the largest horror set ever constructed in India.
The film is also expected to make a big splash in the Hindi market. However, it won’t have the date all to itself as in Bollywood, it’s heading for a box office face-off with Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, which is also set to release on the same day.
