Vir Das, who is all set to make his directorial debut with Aamir Khan Productions’ upcoming film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, was recently paid a visit by Farah Khan. The filmmaker-choreographer visited
Vir’s house along with her famous cook, Dilip. As they shot for Farah’s YouTube channel, Vir opened up about his film and even compared it to Farah’s films.
Farah asked Dilip, “Do you know his (Vir) film is releasing soon… do you know what film that is?” As Dilip had a blank face, Farah said, “He doesn’t know anything. Vir’s film is titled Happy Patel.” Vir added, “Khatarnaak Jasoos.” Dilip quipped, “But you have made Happy New Year.” Farah said, “He just likes to take one word, and then he says whatever he wants.”
Vir then told Dilip, “Usi type ka pagalpan, faltu type ki picture hai. (It’s a crazy and hilarious film just like Happy New Year).” Farah interjected, “Wait a second, did you just call my film faltu?” Vir tried to cover up and said, “My film is fully faltu!” Farah quipped, “You mean to say mine was half faltu?”
Farah later mentioned that she loved the trailer of Vir’s film. “It is my kind of funny. I love how you have used an accent for your character. I don’t know if it’s everybody’s cup of tea, but I loved it,” Farah said. Vir said in agreement, “Of course, the stars are nowhere near, but anybody who liked Om Shanti Om will like this film.”
“That means the entire country,” Farah replied. Vir added, “It is a top spoof movie—more than Tees Maar Khan.” Farah mentioned, “Vir just told me that a lot of references in Happy Patel are from Om Shanti Om.” Vir said, “The tone is similar. Om Shanti Om is a film where the script is ridiculous, but the actors are playing it as if it’s completely real.”
“Of course, you can’t act comic just because it’s a comedy film,” Farah added. Vir said, “That was our first brief to all our actors—you believe everything that’s happening.” Circling back to Vir’s comment on Om Shanti Om, Farah joked, “He just called my script stupid. I don’t know if he’s complimenting me or insulting me.”
Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, Happy Patel is directed by Vir Das, also stars Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi and Mithila Palkar in pivotal roles, and is slated to release in theatres on 16th January 2026.
