After years of questions, jokes, and fan petitions, Farah Khan director comeback is no longer just internet chatter. The filmmaker has finally said it herself. A new film is coming, and she has even hinted
at when it will happen. The update did not come from a press conference or a studio announcement. It came casually, during a home visit that quickly turned into big Bollywood news. Farah, who has stayed away from direction while ruling YouTube with her unfiltered vlogs, dropped the clearest signal yet that she is ready to return to the director’s chair. For fans who grew up on her brand of loud, colourful, star-driven Hindi cinema, this moment feels long overdue. A casual chat that turned into a big reveal Farah shared the update while visiting actor Nakuul Mehta at his Mumbai home for one of her YouTube vlogs. During their conversation, Nakuul spoke about how much he misses the kind of films Farah used to make. That comment opened the door. Farah confirmed that direction is back on her priority list. She said, “Abhi banaungi main! Abhi bachche chaley jayenge na college fir banaungi! There is a whole petition on the internet called wapas aao Farah Khan (I will make a film soon! My kids are going to college so I will make after that. There is a whole petition for me to return to direction)! So I think it is time, I think end of this year I will start.” The statement instantly lit up fan discussions online, especially because it included a rough timeline. YouTube stays, but cinema comes first Farah also made it clear that her YouTube success is not something she plans to abandon. In her usual blunt humour, she joked that the platform helps her manage her children’s expenses. When Nakuul teased her about whether YouTube would produce her next film, Farah delivered another headline-making line. She said, “If I do (direct her film), I will do it wait Shah Rukh! Otherwise, I will wait and do YouTube.” Shah Rukh Khan link excites fans Farah has one of the most successful director-actor partnerships in modern Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan. Together, they delivered massive hits like Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Happy New Year. Her last directorial, Happy New Year, released in 2014 and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani. The film went on to become a box office success, making her absence from direction even more noticeable over the years. Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Dunki in 2023 and is currently set to appear next in Siddharth Anand’s King, which is yet to get a release date. From film sets to viral vlogs While films were on pause, Farah found a new audience online. She began her YouTube journey in 2025 after encouragement from her team. Her decision to feature her cook Dilip, complete with punchlines and spontaneous banter, turned the videos into viral favourites.
