As Bengaluru prepares to usher in the New Year with large-scale celebrations across the city, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended Namma Metro services on the night
of December 31 and the morning of January 1. The special schedule is aimed at ensuring smoother and safer travel for commuters heading to and from New Year celebration venues.
With only days left for the year to end, the Bengaluru Police has placed the city on high alert, deploying tight security measures across major party hotspots such as Koramangala, Indiranagar, MG Road and surrounding areas. Amid these heightened security arrangements, the extended metro services are expected to reduce road congestion and offer a reliable public transport option for late-night travellers.
According to BMRCL, services will be extended across the Purple, Green and Yellow Lines on New Year’s Eve.

MG Road Metro Station to Remain Closed Late Night
BMRCL has decided to close the MG Road metro station for both entry and exit from 10:00 pm on December 31 due to the large crowds expected in the MG Road area, a popular New Year celebration hotspot. However, Trinity and Cubbon Park metro stations will remain functional to facilitate passenger movement.
What Will The Train Frequency and Ticketing Changes Be On New Year in Bengaluru?
From 11:00 pm on December 31, metro services on the Purple and Green Lines will operate at intervals of eight minutes. On the Yellow Line, trains will run at a frequency of approximately 15 minutes. The last train from Majestic is scheduled to depart at 2:45 am.
Ticket counters across metro stations will be closed after 11:00 pm on December 31 to manage crowd flow. During this time, ticket counters at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations will also remain closed, and passengers will be required to use QR code-based ticketing systems for travel.
The extended metro services are part of broader arrangements by civic authorities and the police to ensure smooth movement across Bengaluru during New Year celebrations. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel in advance and follow instructions issued by metro authorities.
