Bandwan Assembly Constituency is set to vote in Phase 1 of 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, with the Election Commission of India announcing the following candidates in the fray.

Bandwan is one of the
294 constituencies in the West Bengal Assembly and falls under Purulia district of South West Bengal region. The seat is reserved for the Scheduled Tribe category with 6.27% of the population belonging to the Scheduled Caste community and 35.29% of the population belonging to the Scheduled Tribe community. The constituency has 2,83,964 voters, including 1,44,224 men and 1,39,740 women. The overall literacy rate of Bandwan is 65.38% according to the Census of India 2011.
Voting in Bandwan will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, as part of Phase 1 polling, while counting is scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026.
In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress won 215 of the state’s 294 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party secured 77. In the same election, Mekliganj was won by Adhikary Paresh Chandra of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), who defeated Dadhiram Ray of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 14,685 votes.
