Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are all set to reunite on screen with their upcoming film, Ranaballi. Amid growing anticipation around the project, the Rahul Sankrityan directorial has reportedly
received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
According to a report by Aakashavaani, the film has cleared the censor board examination without a single cut being suggested. However, further details regarding the certification and the film’s release plans are awaited.
Is Ranabaali Based On A True Story?
Ranabaali is not a straightforward biopic or a direct retelling of the life of one documented historical figure. Instead, the film draws inspiration from a real historical period and depicts the struggles of people in Rayalaseema during the British colonial era.
In the film, Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular role of Ranabaali, who has been described as a Telugu man from Rayalaseema who rises against British oppression. On the other hand, Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife and companion in his fight. Arnold Vosloo also plays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector, an English oppressor in the movie.
In the teaser and trailer, released recently, we saw Ranabaali as a legendary figure who refused to accept the exploitation of his people. However, it should also be noted that he has not been established as a specific historical personality.
When Will Ranaballi Release?
It should be noted that the film marks another collaboration between Vijay and Rashmika, who have previously worked together in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. The film has been produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers and is presented by T-Series.
Ranabaali is scheduled to release worldwide on October 16, 2026, one day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 arrives in theatres.
